Blue Line Communications Technology Group

The Blue Line Communications Technology Group was formed in the spring of 2024 to promote and support learning and activity in the field of Information and Communications Technology, and to support voluntary public service and emergency communications using Amateur Radio and any other radio services or analog and digital communications technologies available to members.

Specifically, the Blue Line Communications Technology Group promotes and support member participation in technical and procedural training, public service, and emergency communications events as members of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES ®), Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), and Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM) groups.

It is also our purpose to promote fraternalism; further information exchange and cooperation between members; promote technical knowledge, competency, and experimentation in all facets of communications and information technology of interest to members; and to so conduct group programs and activities so as to promote and advance a general interest in technology as well as specifically enhance the welfare of Amateur Radio in the community.

While not limited to Amateur Radio activities, the goals, objectives, and activities of this group shall align with the Basis and Purpose of the Amateur Radio Service, as stated in FCC Part 97 regulations

§ 97.1 Basis and purpose. The rules and regulations in this part are designed to provide an amateur radio service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following principles:
(a) Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications.
(b) Continuation and extension of the amateur's proven ability to contribute to the advancement of the radio art.
(c) Encouragement and improvement of the amateur service through rules which provide for advancing skills in both the communication and technical phases of the art. (d) Expansion of the existing reservoir within the amateur radio service of trained operators, technicians, and electronics experts.
(e) Continuation and extension of the amateur's unique ability to enhance international goodwill.

 

All persons interested in radio communications and related technologies are eligible for membership. It is expected that members will participate in regular training and educational activities, as well as as in public service and emergency communications events.

An Amateur Radio license is not be required for membership. However, obtaining and maintaining a license is encouraged, and it is required for membership in the related organizations of ARES and RACES.
